Is Royce Buckingham Secretly the Monster Lawyer?

You might think that Daniel Becker, Monster Lawyer, bears an uncanny resemblance to me, Author Royce Buckingham. And you might be correct!

I recently enjoyed an evening with friends and fans at local independent bookstore, Village Books in Bellingham, WA, where I took on the role of Daniel Becker, Monster Lawyer, to present the first novel in the 3-book series. Village Books is currently the only place in the whole wide-wide world to get an English-language copy of Monster Lawyer, which is primarily published in Deutsch (that’s German).

The story blends my real-life experience as a lawyer and my life-long obsession with monsters. I came up with the idea for Monster Lawyer by using my patented and complex “What if?” literary prompt technique—in this case, “What if a confident, corporate-climbing lawyer woke up to find his childhood monster sitting on his bed, and this thing that tormented him as a kid asked him for legal help?”

The answer turns out to be a funny, scary book with quirky and lovable characters and a powerful, brilliant, horrifying villain.

I first brought the Monster Lawyer series to German readers through my German publisher, the giant publishing conglomeration of Random Penguin House. I am now excited to make the novel available to fans in the US via a limited print run in English!
