Vom Anwalt zum Detektiv
Das Thema “Ermittler in der Welt des Paranormalen” ist ja eigentlich nicht neu. Das Besondere in diesem Buch ist, dass der Ermittler als erfolgreicher Anwalt beginnt, dann mit dem Übernatürlichen in Kontakt kommt und feststellt, dass er seine neuen Klienten viel interessanter findet als seine alten Fälle. Einen der Fälle empfindet er als so interessant, dass er nun selbst beginnt das Verbrechen dahinter aufzuklären. Auf lustige und unterhaltsame.
Weise bekommt der Hörer einen Einblick in den Anwaltsberuf und in das Privatleben des Anwalts. Es begegnen ihm Scharlatane und magische Wesen, teils gefährlich, teils verwirrt. Sympathisch ist, dass er in seine neue Rolle als Ermittler nur langsam hineinwächst. Er macht Fehler, verdächtigt auch mal die Falschen, merkt, dass er ohne Hilfe nicht weiter kommt und muss sich sehr bemühen sich in seiner neuen Rolle zurechtzufinden.
Das Buch ist leicht, locker, lustig, der Sprecher passt bestens dazu, und sollte es eine Fortsetzung geben, werde ich sie auf jeden Fall kaufen.
From lawyer to detective
The topic “investigators in the world of the paranormal” is actually not new. What is special about this book is that the investigator starts out as a successful lawyer, then comes into contact with the supernatural and finds that he finds his new clients much more interesting than his old cases. He finds one of the cases so interesting that he now begins to solve the crime behind it himself.
The listener gets an insight into the legal profession and the private life of the lawyer in a funny and entertaining way. He encounters charlatans and magical creatures, some dangerous, some confused. It’s nice that he’s only slowly growing into his new role as an investigator. He makes mistakes, sometimes suspects the wrong people, realizes that he can’t get any further without help and has to try very hard to find his way in his new role.
The book is light, easygoing, funny, the narrator suits it perfectly and if there is a sequel I will definitely buy it.

Die Handlung des Buches ist originell und bietet eine interessante Mischung aus Fantasy und Krimi. Die Idee, dass ein Anwalt Monster vertritt, ist ungewöhnlich und sorgt für viele unterhaltsame Momente. Die Spannung wird konstant aufrechterhalten und es gibt immer wieder überraschende Wendungen. Der Monsteranwalt ein gelungener zweiter Band der Urban-Fantasy-Serie von Royce Buckingham. Die Geschichte ist spannend, humorvoll und originell. Die Charaktere sind gut ausgearbeitet und die Darstellung der Stadt Seattle ist gelungen. Wer gerne Urban-Fantasy liest, wird mit diesem Buch bestens unterhalten.

The plot of the book is original and offers an interesting mix of fantasy and crime. The idea of a lawyer representing monsters is unusual and makes for many entertaining moments. The suspense is constantly maintained and there are always surprising twists and turns. The Monster Lawyer is a successful second volume of the urban fantasy series by Royce Buckingham. The story is exciting, humorous and original. The characters are well fleshed out and the portrayal of the city of Seattle is well done. If you like to read urban fantasy, you will be entertained with this book.
Monstermäßig spannend
Daniel Becker ist herrlich unkonventionell, ein Typ mit Schwächen, aber auch einem großen Herz. Manchmal macht er Sachen, von denen man instinktiv weiß, das kann nur schiefgehen, dennoch unternimmt er alles, um der Gerechtigkeit zum Sieg zu verhelfen. Mich hat Autor Royce Buckingham mit seinen Romanen für sich eingenommen. Ich liebe die Mischung aus Fantasy, Spannung und Humor. Hoffentlich gibt es noch viele weitere paranormale Fälle, die Becker mit uns an seiner Seite lösen muss.
Monster-like thrilling
Daniel Becker is wonderfully unconventional, a guy with weaknesses, but also a big heart. Sometimes he does things that you instinctively know can only go wrong, yet he does everything he can to help justice win. I was won over by author Royce Buckingham with his novels. I love the mix of fantasy, suspense and humor. Hopefully, there are many more paranormal cases that Becker will have to solve with us by his side.
